About the
Project

The project represents an ongoing architectural transformation of a single-storey Floridian residence, in which the existing structure is fundamentally redefined rather than replaced.

While retaining the original footprint, the renovation introduces a contemporary architectural language shaped by material clarity, climatic response, and spatial coherence.

The
Result

A dark standing-seam metal roof becomes the defining element of the composition, unifying the articulated roof scape while responding to demands of durability, heat resistance, and storm protection. The massing is structured through multiple pitched planes and gables, breaking down the expansive volume and lending the building a measured scale. A gray rendered façade forms a calm, continuous surface, allowing the roof and openings to read with precision. The three-car garage is fully integrated into the overall volume and treated as an inherent architectural component.

Inside, the project is conceived as a complete spatial and material reset. Continuous sandstone flooring extends throughout living areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms, establishing visual unity and a tactile connection to the subtropical context. All private spaces are undergoing full remodeling, emphasizing reduction, proportion, and longevity. A newly designed kitchen is positioned as a central architectural element, supporting contemporary patterns of living and gathering.

Architecture as Process:
Because the building is still under construction, the project should be understood as architecture in transition. Decisions regarding materiality, spatial sequencing, and detailing are being resolved with an emphasis on coherence and durability rather than immediacy. The transformation aims to replace an aging residential structure with a disciplined, contemporary domestic architecture, shaped equally by climate, material restraint, and everyday use. Once completed, the house will not present itself as a stylistic statement, but as a quiet, robust, and enduring living environment—an architecture that has emerged through careful reworking rather than wholesale replacement.
